As one of the new 2026 Churchill Fellows, I am proud to introduce my fellowship research investigation taking place in December 2026 in Denmark, the Netherlands and Australia.

My fellowship focus centres around finding ways to develop physiotherapy in the home based care of older people. Qualifying as a physiotherapist in 1997, my career has spanned through the NHS and beyond. As a business owner of 15 years I followed a passion for home care, and the belief that people should be supported to live well and safely at home.

Aging populations, increased lifespans and increasingly complex health issues, combined with a demand to reduce the load on public health services such as the NHS are all important areas covered by home care, yet the UK is underutilising the future necessity of home care, and the role of physiotherapists in home care.

The purpose of my fellowship research is to focus on the role of physiotherapists, social care and domiciliary home care workers in Demark, The Netherlands and Australia, where allied health professionals are making a difference in home care settings globally.

I hope to bring back practical, tested ideas that will help create new professional roles in UK home care, and will be sharing my experiences and findings here.
